Land Rush on Re-settlement Day
We provide Kerrville Folk Festival campers an opportunity to come onto the Quiet Valley Ranch the Saturday prior to the Festival’s start date. (In 2019, Land Rush/Resettlement Day will be on Saturday, May 18.) Campers purchase stake(s) for a 10 x 10 campsite. (For someone wanting a 20 x 10 campsite, 2 stakes are required etc.) Campers may either put down their stake(s) and a 10 x 10 tarp (bring your own tarp) for each stake to mark their space or set up their campsite and stay or leave. The campground gate opens at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. (Prior to that, no one is able to enter the Campground.)
For campers staying, Electric permits may be purchased during the “Minus Days” of Land Rush week. (Thursday, when the Festival begins is Day 1, Wednesday is Minus Day 1, Tuesday is Minus Day 2, and so on.)
RV'ers with a reserved site for the Festival are not required to go through Land Rush but will be subject to a $25 per night (off-season) fee for EACH non-festival night their RV is used.
If it is your first time to come for “Land Rush”:
PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME!
First, get into line with your vehicle. Campers may start lining up their vehicles in the Festival parking lot, at the south end of the ranch, beginning at noon on Friday May 17. Most set up a tent or sleep in their vehicles Friday evening awaiting the opening of the gate the following day.
Once you park in line, walk to VIP where stakes are sold. Only campers who have purchased tickets for the first weekend or are registered Volunteers (through KerrStaff.org) may purchase stakes. Please bring your printed ticketing confirmation or your KerrStaff confirmation. Stakes are $5 per day up until the first day for which you are ticketed. (So, if you have a ticket for Day 1 -Thursday, May 24 if you purchase a stake on Friday or Saturday before Day 1, a stake will cost $25. If your first ticket is for Day 2 – Friday, May 25, a stake will cost $30.)
IF YOU ARE BRINGING IN A TRAILER OR A SLEEPER VEHICLE FOR USE DURING THE FESTIVAL, YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A "SLEEPER VEHICLE PERMIT" ($25) AND STAKE(S)!
At 4 PM on Saturday, May 18 the horn will sound and vehicles will start entering the Campground in the order in which they were lined up in the parking lot...the LAND RUSH BEGINS! You then find and claim your spot(s) with your stake and a tarp, tent, trailer, or RV. You can either set up your camp and stay, (since you’ve actually paid for your camping by purchasing your stake) or you may choose to put down a tarp with your stake in the ground and come back for the weekend.
There are a number of “established” campsites* throughout the Campground whose placement may take (reasonable) priority over others. We ask everyone to work together to keep Land Rush as fair and equitable as possible, while respecting the tradition and historical significance of these established camps.
*Just because a group has given themselves a camp name and been camping in the same spot for a few years DOES NOT make them an *established* camp. By “established” we mean those major music campsites that have been around for decades and are fixtures.
